Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a holistic health doctrine and a philosophy of life that considers every human being as an individual.
The origins of the traditional natural medical system Ayurveda ("ayus" for life, "veda" for pure knowledge) lie in India.
The oldest writings in Sanskrit are about 5000 years old.

Ayurveda focuses on the following:

  • Massages and cleansing techniques
  • Dietetics
  • Yoga and meditation
  • Herbal medicine

The three Doshas (Biological Energies) Vata, Pitta and Kapha are in the centre. These three bio energies reflect the five elements earth, water, fire, air and space. The Doshas have shaped us since birth. They shape our character and our own personality, our external appearance, as well as our tendency to mental and physical imbalance.

The three Doshas can change in appearance as a result of various external and internal factors such as prolonged stress, exhaustion, inner emptiness, changes in the weather or inadequate nutrition. Our physical and mental balance can be negatively affected. If these bio energies become out of balance, one can fall out of his/her natural balance, become ill or lose joy in life.

Appropriate nutrition, a suitable lifestyle and Ayurvedic massages, therapies and herbal preparations can prevent and cure this.

The main goal of Ayurveda is to keep the body, mind and soul in a happy and healthy balance. Ayurveda can help to restore harmony and inner happiness in our hectic lives.

In the western world it is hardly known that Ayurveda is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a medical system and that Ayurvedic origins lie far ahead of our conventional medicine.
